Oil Paintings

Oil paintings can take at least six months to dry before varnishing. Oil paintings which are not under glass, will initially have a retouching varnish applied. This allows the oil painting to dry and at the same time gives the oil painting a temporary gloss finish. After 6 – 9 months when the oil painting is completely dry, a regular artist varnish is applied. These paintings are sold ready for hanging, either under glass or with a varnish applied.
